b. 1990, Miass, Russia; lives and works in Chelyabinsk, Russia

Marina Altukhova is a Russian figurative artist whose practice blends painting, printmaking, and experimental materials to explore sensual and metaphorical imagery through diverse visual techniques.

Her years studying art in Malaysia played a formative role in developing her distinctive style. Her work serves as a portal into the inner world of the human psyche - its shadow aspects, stream of thoughts, inner conflicts, and silent dialogues. Marina predominantly portrays solitary figures, reflecting her belief that self-exploration occurs in solitude. Working with oil, acrylic, and oil pastels on canvas and paper, she creates spaces for contemplation on the emotional and psychological experiences of modern life.

Alongside the human form, she frequently depicts plants, animals, and birds. The interplay between people and nature, symbolic color combinations, and metaphorical imagery is central to her work and often rooted in psychological themes. Her paintings are shaped by both her personal experiences and the emotions and stories of strangers. Through her art, Marina seeks to better understand herself and the world around her - a never-ending process that fascinates her with its constant evolution and complexity.

Since 2020, she has taken part in numerous group and solo exhibitions and contemporary art fairs across Russia. In 2023, she was featured in the prominent group project Mirror of the Stage at GES-2 in Moscow. Her works are held in private collections in Russia and internationally.
